With the rapid development of science and technology, more and more attention in the field of aerospace, automotive, energy, biomedicine etc. has been paid to the fatigue strength of parts. Residual stress of machined surface is an important factor affecting the fatigue strength of parts. Machining quality and efficiency of surface can be improved effectively by complex groove inserts, so the complex groove inserts and cutting performance have become an important subject at home and abroad. At present, the study of complex groove inserts mainly focus on the chip-control and chip-breaking prediction. Complicated groove inserts on machined surface residual stress is still at the primary stage, so it’s important theoretical significance and practical value to research on effects of complex groove inserts on the residual stressFirst of all, the formation process of machining residual stress in machined surface has been studied in this paper, analyzing the factors influencing the surface residual stress. Research on the cutting heat and the cutting force on the complicated groove inserts of the tool-chip contact, and distribution of friction force and cutting temperature in the rake face has been made. And the effect on residual stress of thermal-mechanical coupling while complex groove inserts cuts on residual stress has been studied on the basis of the above research.Secondly, the theoretical basis of cutting test has been prepared by studying the stress finite element simulation method on residual, establishing machining model of complex groove inserts, making analysis and finite element simulation about the process in the cutting of complex groove inserts45steel and stainless steel, and studying the change rule of cutting force, the cutting temperature and the residual affected by tress groove structure, edge and coating parametersFinally, the test of cutting and residual stress has been performed. The theory basis for the groove optimization has been provided by researching the rule of cutting force, cutting temperature and residual stress affected by different complex groove inserts in different cutting parameters, and analyzing the variation rule of residual stress of work-piece surface influenced by complex groove with and without coating cutting different materials.
