Biofilm is the main method of sewage treatment, the biofilm carrier materials hasadvantages and disadvantages of the method to deal with the sewage to the expected results ofthe key. This paper is at this stage at home and abroad through research and comparison used inwastewater treatment technology and biofilm carrier material characteristics, chosen as theporous ceramic composite treatment of biofilm carrier. Ceramics through the main rawmaterial used by pottery with clay, diatomaceous earth, and vermiculite, according to certainingredients and proportions, and rational design of the shape and structure of the ceramicparticles, to the formation of closed pores within, add a pore through the use of the productionprocess to produce. Pore activated carbon material selection, and the ground to0.2~0.5μm insize. The development of lightweight porous ceramic composite materials sealed inside thehollow-shaped formation, the proportion of the1.0g/mL about5mm in diameter around thesewage treatment can be suspended as a biofilm carrier in the water.Be used in fluidized bed bioreactor for treatment of organic wastewater, in smalleraeration conditions can show a good fluidization. This paper discussed the characteristics ofthe carrier’s hanging membrane and sponge material for comparative study and found thatunder the same conditions, light porous ceramic composite carrier biofilm only after a batchof experiments on the removal of COD rate reached80%, while the sponge on the biofilmcarrier was required after five batches to achieve the same removal rate. Also found that thesurface of the resulting two vectors are different biofilm communities, the development oflightweight porous ceramic substrate surface, showing a typical biofilm formation of biofilmcommunities, much better than foam materials formed on the surface of the biofilm. Describethe development of the ceramic substrate has a high biological activity. While for the actualcontaminated river water bioremediation of ammonia and nitrogen eutrophication caused byremoval are better. The results show that the development of lightweight porous ceramic compositematerials as sewage treatment in the biofilm carrier, in practical application has unique performance and advantage, not only reduces the cost of sewage treatment, and can reach theexpected results.
