Annular centrifugal extraction is a newly emerging separation technique. In order to Study influencing factor of separation efficiency and optimize its structure, PIV technique is employed to test the flow field in the rotor zone of an annular centrifugal contactor (ACC), and to obtain the velocity and streamline diagrams of the flow field relative to ground and the rotor. It is found that the air-water interface is parabolic at low speeds of rotation and cylindrical at high speeds. The air-water interface is found to change with the speed. The liquid level height affected the air water interface to a lesser degree. Taking the rotor as a reference system, with the rotor in rotation, the fluid forms a vortex in each separation cell relative to the rotor. The magnitude of the tangential velocity and that of radial velocity significantly change with speed of rotation. However, the trend in their variations is not changed by the speed of rotation. The flow velocity has less effect on the tangential velocity and radial velocity. The speed of rotation has less effect on the angular velocity profile of Entrance region.
