FEVE curing coatings are widely used in buildings, vehicles, bridges, ship anti-corrosion, chemical corrosion resistance and new energy fields in terms of its excellent weather resistance, chemical resistance, corrosion resistance, etc. The FEVE technology of high performance coating has been applied in bridge construction, mature which high weather ability was required at present in foreign countries. However, FEVE fluorocarbon coatings of uneven qualities are still in the preliminary stage of development which has not formed a certain scale of the market in the domestic. In view of the current development and needs of the domestic FEVE coating’s application, this paper made a kind of FEVE coatings which could be cured at room temperature on the basis of previous studies, aiming at the comparion with several existing FEVE coatings on the market upon properties of weather resistance and aging resistance. The main contents and conclusions are as follows:(l)Preparation of FEVE coatings cured at room temperatureThe homemade paint basic recipe was shown by the experiments and actual production of stage company on the basis of theoretical analysis and previous research about curing FEVE paint at room temperature:In a mixed solvent of xylene/butyl acetate/propylene glycol methyl ether acetate, the LUMIFLON-200FEVE resin manufactured by Asahi Glass Company as the main film-forming substance, HDI shrinkage of two urea was used as a curing agent, dibutyltin dilaurate as catalyst, the aid of the Taiwan Deuchem5500defoamer and polyether modified organosiloxane leveling agent EFKA-3033and other reagents were used to prepare FEVE paint cured at room remperature.(2) Preparation of coating samples of FEVEThrough the salt spray test and the moist heat test, the best anticorrosive system was found:Epoxy zinc rich Primer+MIO (micaceous iron oxide) epoxy middle coating+normal temperature cure fluorocarbon top-coat. After the test of resistance to chemicals to all the fluorocarbon resin, we found that properties of the chemical resistance, salt spray resistance and heat resistance of the self-made FEVE were better than other systems.(3) Weathering and aging resistance test of FEVE paintFEVE paint was performed the aging resistance test after its original gloss UV coating film was measured by the gloss meter. There were two test methods:①It was found that homemade FEVE fluorocarbon paint gloss retention rate was remained at90%since accelerating aging2000h by artificial UV. The UV aging resistance performance of4#coating from the market resistant was not desired which gloss retention rate was only57%in the same testing condition. Other three paint gloss retention rate were about65%. The gloss retention rate was above80%after4000h treatment. The rate of1#paint from market remained at60%while2#and3#films showed a serious decline phenomenon in gloss retention rate (about47%). Homemade UV coating after4000h of artificial accelerated aging could meet the color difference of2degree, however, the degree of the FEVE paints which were available in the market was only about3to4.②The gloss retention rates of the four paints from the market was about85%after outdoor field exposure of18h. The home-made the FEVE film gloss retention rate was kept at90%and the chalking phenomena was not showed on the surface of the coating.At last, a variety of surface treatment methods of the coated were summarized according to my work experience and feedback of customer.
