5-Aminotetrazole (5-AT) is used as the combustible agent in this paper.According to the theoretical calculation and analysis, the heat of combustion is relatively low for a type of gas generating agent,which consists of5-aminotetrazole and copper oxide. So in the case, copper oxide(CuO) is chosen as the oxidant.For different oxygen balance of5-aminotetrazole/copper oxide,combustion performance, gas product and thermal decomposition are tested by the experiment. At the same time, theoretical analysis and research also are underway.The heat of combustion of5-aminotetrazole/copper oxide is measured by the oxygen bomb calorimeter method. The results show that with the increase of oxygen balance,the heat of combustion tends to decrease, the maximum is1697J/g and a minimum of913J/g. The thermocouple and infrared are adopted to measure its burning temperature respectively,which includes condensed phase and producing gas.The results indicate that with the increase of oxygen balance, the highest temperature of the condensed phase reaction zone and producing gas gradually decline, the highest at697℃and634℃, the lowest at474℃and395℃respectively. In addition, the highest temperature of producing gas is lower than that of the condensed phase reaction zone. Under the condition of open system,the burning rate is tested test. The results show that fastest is0.99mm/s and the slowest is0.27mm/s. The producing gas is collected via using drainage method.The results shows that, gas production decreases with the increase of oxygen balance, the maximum of0.32L/g and the minimum of0.17L/g. The main gas ingredients and harmful gas composition are measured by gas chromatograph and flue gas analyzer. The results show that with the increase of oxygen balance, N2content decreases while the CO2content increases.At the same time,the former is higher than the latter.Especially,the CO lowest content varies from6100ppm to7020ppm at oxygen balance of two, while NO lowest content is126ppm at oxygen balance of zero. The thermal decomposition process was studied by TG-DSC-MS. The results show that with the increase of oxygen balance, the decomposition temperature is at about205℃, while the weightlessness end temperature dicreases.During the process, gas products are formed,such as N2,H2O,CO2,CO,NH3and HN3. In terms of safety,5-aminotetrazole/copper oxide is insensitive to the impact and friction stimulation.As a whole, the feature of5-aminotetrazole/copper oxide is characteristic of low heat of combustion, low the combustion temperature and less harmful gas.
