Bi2MO6(M=W, Mo) have received significant attention due to their excellent photocatalytic properties under visible light. However, a drawback of semiconductors photocatalyst is the separation of nanosized photocatalysts from wastewater. Therefore, a magnetic photocatalyst is developed to solve this problem. In this thesis, the Bi2MO6(M=W, Mo) nanofibers, nanobelts, hollow nanofibers and Bi2MO6(M=W, Mo)//CoFe2O4aligned nanofibers were prepared through the side by side electrospinning process. The samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), energy dispersive spectrometry (EDS), UV-Vis diffuse reflection spectrum (UV-Vis DRS), vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM), surface photovoltage spectroscopy (SPS), electrical field induced surface photovoltage spectroscopy (EFISPS) and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) method. The results show that the diameters of nanofibers and hollow nanofibers, the width of nanobelts and single diameters of aligned nanofibers are approximately100nm,180nm,2μm and80nm, respectively. The photocatalytic activities of the samples are studied through the degradation of RhB as aim substance in an aqueous solution exposed to visible light from a300W Xenon lamp. The samples exhibit excellent photocatalytic properties in degradation of RhB due to their one-dimensional nanostructures. The Bi2MO6(M=W, Mo)//CoFe2O4aligned nanofibers could be easily separated from the used aqueous solution under the application of an external magnetic field. The excellent photocatalytic activity, easy magnetic separation and multiple reuses make possible the practical utility of the new magnetic nanofibers in photocatalysis.
