In this paper,we did a systematic study of the hardness, toughness and impact resistance for inorganic non-metallic transparent glass, especially for the touch screen panel of mobile devices. Using high-temperature melting method the special glass with high hardness and high toughness was prepared. SiO2-B2O3-AlO3-CaO-MgO is the basic formula. The amount of ZrO2, SrO, TiO2, K2O, Sb2O3, SnO2and other oxides are introduced. And by-changing the content of each substance in order to seek the variation of hardness, toughness and shock resistance of glass.In addition, because of when this glass melted with high viscosity and it is difficult to discharge the bubble, the affect of exhaust bubbles is studied by changing the amount and proportion of the clarifying agent Sb2O3and SnO2on high viscosity and the introduction of CO32-and NO3-in part of substances.The final we find the optimal proportion of CaCO3and Ca(NO3)2·4H2O is9wt%:4wt%, the proportion of Sb2O3and SnO2is0.4wt%:0.3wt%. The optimal contents of SiO2, B2O3and Al2O3is57wt%,7.3wt%and8wt%. ZrO2and TiO2can great improve the hardness and modulus of elasticity of Glass, and the optimal contents is1.2wt%and0.15wt%."Mixed-alkali effect" on the glass can significantly improve the mechanical properties. The optimal contents of MgO, CaO and SrO is14wt%:llwt%:2wt%. K+can increase the hardness of the glass, but when the content of K+exceeds0.5wt%, the shock resistance of the glass would be reduced.In this study, we obtained a best glass. Its’Vickers hardness is586Hv, Modulus of elasticity is67.5GPa and shock resistance is that it can withstand the free fall height of balls (78g)is61cm.
