The polysaccharide macro-spheres (PMS) are a type of biological preparation withabundant material, easily degradation and free from contamination. Macro-spheres are freefrom secondary contamination to the enviroment and good adsorption then could be used tosewage treatment. The main purpose of this paper is study the preparation and application ofpolysaccharide macro-spheres in sewage treatment. In order to base for macro-spheres whichare used for sewage treatment. The polysaccharide macro-spheres were prepared from potato starch gelatinized byinverse suspension with epichlorohydrin as the crosslinking agent, Span60as the emulsifyingagent and the plant oil as the organic phase. The product was characterized by microscope. We focused on influences of synthesis condition on adsorption quantity of polysaccharidemacro-spheres. The orthogonal experiment were carried out according to L9(43) foroptimizing the synthesis condition with the adsorption as the target. We also studied on theadsorption of polysaccharide macro-sphere to methylorange, copper ion, phenol andammonium ion by visible spectrophotometers.By study the synthesis condition, the result showed: The adsorption quantity ofpolysaccharide macro-spheres increased with the increased of dosage of surfactants andcrosslinking agent. When dosage of surfactants is0.2g and dosage of crosslinking agent is4mL, the adsorption of macro-sphere is maximal. The adsorption quantity of polysaccharidemacro-spheres increased with the increased of starch mass fraction, when starch mass fractionis less than10%. The quantity decreased with increased of starch mass fraction, when starchmass fraction is more than10%. Adsorption quantity of polysaccharide macro-spheresincreased with the increased of dosage of oil phase and stirring speed. When the dosage of oilis140mL, the adsorption is maximal. When the stirring speed is600rad/min, thepolysaccharide macro-spheres are our demand. The result showed: influences degree ofsynthesis condition on adsorption quantity of polysaccharide macro-spheres: dosage ofcrosslinking agent>starch mass fraction>dosage of oil phase>emulsifying agent, optimized conditions for synthesizing polysaccharide macro-spheres: starch mass fraction9%,dosage of oil phase155mL, dosage of surfactants0.25g, dosage of crosslinking agent3.7mL.We focused on the size of polysaccharide macro-spheres which is range from0.3mm to2.4mm. The polysaccharide macro-spheres are spherical spheres with crosslinked, dispersiveand porous. Adsorption characteristic of macro-sphere to methylorange, copper ion, phenoland ammonium ion are studied. Results show that factor of initial concentration of methylorange and copper ion, pH value and temperature play a significant role on adsorption. Thephenomenon of macro-sphere adsorb phenol and ammonium ion, are not presented. In a word, the polysaccharide macro-spheres were produced easily. It can be used forsewage treatment. The pigment and heavy metal ion can be adsorbed by macro-spheres. Butthere is not the phenomenon of adsorption to orgnic compound and nonmetal cation.
