With the rapid development of the global urbanization, the problem of ‘urbanclimate’ become more and more serious and has caused wide attention. The shapingfactor and change mechanism of the urban thermal environment are the hotspot issueson the ‘urban climate’,’urban environment’,’urban planning’and so on. Recently, ourcountry has stepped into the fast-development period. So the urban heat effect hasbeen becoming the constraints of the urban development. The main topic forms of theurban development in our country is urban agglomeration consisted of severaldifferent size and function city. The urban heat effect is not only in the single city butalso in the urban agglomeration. Therefore, from different scales, analyzing theformation of the urban heat island and the development patterns of the urbanagglomeration has important significance. The highest level of urbanization, the largest population and the highest GDP arein the Yangtze River Delta area. The pattern of the urban development and the humanactivity are very complex. The effect of the regional thermal environment is veryoutstanding. Therefore, this paper has important significance. The study area of my paper is the Yangtze River Delta area, basing on themulti-source remote sensing data. Analyze the spatial and temporal distribution, from‘the single city’ and ‘the urban agglomeration’, by the remote sensing image ofMODIS from2000to2010. On the regional scale, it reveals the spatial and temporaldistribution of the high-temperature zone and analyzes the relationship between thesurface temperature and the impervious surface. Result shows that the spatialautocorrelation of the high-temperature zone is very high and the relationship betweenthe surface temperature and the impervious surface become higher and higher. On theurban scale, it reveals the spatial and temporal distribution of the UHI and exploresthe driving force of UHI combining with the human society and economic activityindex. The main results are as follows: The development of the UHI is relativelyindependent. At this stage, the urbanizing land has an inhibitory effect on the UHI.The economic urbanization has a promoting effect on the UHI, but the primaryindustry GDP, the secondary industry GDP and the tertiary industry GDP havedifferent effects. The primary industry GDP has an inhibitory effect on it and theinhibitory effect is becoming weak. The secondary industry GDP has a promotingeffect on it. The tertiary industry GDP has a promoting effect on it, but the effect isvery weak. The statistics of the population urbanization can’t reflect the distributionof the urban population accurately so this paper can’t offer the effect from thepopulation urbanization.
