Abstract/Summary:
Water is irreplaceable natural resource and is important material basis for humansurvival and social development. Throughout water resources system, groundwater is anextremely important part and constitutes an important factor affecting the environment. As an important body of water on the earth, groundwater is closely related to the humansociety. Groundwater pollution is mainly caused by human activity. The chemicalcomposition, physical properties and biological characteristics of groundwater arechanged and the quality declines. Unlike surface water, once groundwater iscontaminated, it is difficult to recover with the self-purification ability. Therefore thegroundwater quality protection should be given priority to prevention.Environmental geophysics is a discipline with environmental science andgeophysics. It mainly uses the theories and methods of geophysics to study therelationship between the geophysical fields, the properties of earth materials and thehuman living environment. Geophysical methods for monitoring groundwater pollutionmainly monitor the changes in physical and chemical properties before and afterpollution, such as density, resistivity and element ion concentration. People use thesemethods to figure out the distribution of contaminants in groundwater migrationprocesses and space, so as to provide the basis for treatment.Geoelectrical methods are the most widely used geophysical methods inenvironmental pollution investigation. Resistivity method is a kind of conductiveelectrical prospecting methods. Multi-electrode resistivity method is a kind of greatprogress resistivity method. In terms of its principle, it is identical with the conventionalresistivity method. Ground penetrating radar method is a kind of electromagneticmethod which uses an antenna to transmit high frequency broadband electromagneticwaves, another antenna to receive the reflected waves from subsurface interfaces, thereby performing subsurface structure. This paper selected multi-electrode resistivity method and ground penetrating radarmethod for the study and elaborated on the basic principles and characteristic of thesetwo methods. For different properties and degrees of pollution, respectively, theRES2DMOD and GPRSIM software was used to build5different contamination models. Multi-electrode resistivity forward data was inversed by RES2DINV softwareand GPR data was collected and drown by MATLAB software. Comparing the obtainedresults with the models, the rules were gotten.Field studies were conducted in a landfill in Baoding city.6survey lines wereemplaced and measured by multi-electrode resistivity method and ground penetratingradar method. Through the collation of the obtained information, scattered garbage andleachate enrichment areas were found in the shallow area. In the deep zone, it was foundthat there was an isolation protection layer with no sign of damage. The results provedthe reliability and validity of these two methods. The two methods can forecast thefuture trends of pollutants and provide the basis for project management.
