Oil cooler plays an important role in lots of fields. For the traditional oil cooler with smooth tube, it has low heat transfer coefficient, big volume and high costs. Design a new type of new oil cooler based on heat transfer enhancement mechanism, named trifoliate tube oil cooler, it has excellent heat transfer performance because of its unique structure. To investigate the heat transfer and pressure drop performance of twisted trifoliate tube is of important significance to save energy and reduce costs.Aiming at obtaining-heat transfer enhancement mechanism of trifoliate tube, analyze the heat transfer and pressure drop characteristics experimentally and numerically. The main research contents and conclusions are as follows:1. Establish heat transfer and pressure drop performance testing system of the trifoliate tube, the reliability of the test system are analyzed. Performances of trifoliate tubes with different geometrical parameters and smooth tube are studied experimentally.2. Analyze the influence of base circle diameter on heat transfer and pressure drop performance. Contrast the heat transfer performance between twisted trifoliate tube and smooth tube on field synergy principle. Study the enhanced heat transfer mechanism of the trifoliate tube based on the experimental datum and heat transfer theory.3. Establish heat transfer and pressure drop performance testing system of oil coolers, comparatively analyze the performance of trifoliate tube oil cooler and pin fin tube oil cooler and get the conclusion the advantage of trifoliate tube cooler at low Reynolds number., redesign the trifoliate tube oil cooler based on the experimental data to reduce the pressure drop.4. Develop calculation software based on Visual studio2010and VC#to reduce the design and calculate period. It will be worth developing because of the reduplication of the software.
