Increasing attention has been paid to dinuclear metal complexes, due to the significantcooperative effect of both metal centers on their reactivity and catalytic applications. Intensivestudy of these complexes will help to provide new catalyts with potential applicationprospects and expand organometallic chemical theory. In this dissertation, we studied thereactivity of the mono-substituted indene with Ru3(CO)12, and isolated and identified thestructures of the compounds we had synthesized. It showed that the effects of the substituentshad no influence on the Ru‐Ru bond distances. The main contents are listed as following:(1) Alkyl substituted indenyl ligands [C9H7R][R=CH(CH3)2(1), CH2CH2CH3(2),CH2CH=CH2(3), CH(CH2)4(4), CH2C6H5(5),] were synthesized. Reactions of thesesubstituted indenyl ligands with Ru3(CO)12in refluxing xylene afforded the correspondingdinuclear metal carbonyl complexes [(η5-C9H6R)Ru(CO)(μ-CO)]2[R=CH(CH3)2(6), R=CH2CH2CH3(7), R=CH2CH=CH2(8), R=CH(CH2)4(10), R=CH2C6H5(11)] and(CH3CH2CHCHCH2CH3)[(5-C9H6) Ru(CO)]2(μ-CO)2(9). It showed that these substituentshad less effect on Ru-Ru bond length of the mono-substituted indenyl dinuclear metalcarbonyl complexes, and novel compounds would easily form when the substituents weresome active groups like olefinic bond and heteroatom. It also showed that the Ru-Ru bondlength in bridged complexes was longer than that in no-bridged complexes.(2) Aryl substituted indenyl ligands [C9H7R][R=C6H5(12), C6H4CH3(13), C6H4Cl(14), C6H4OCH3(15)] were synthesized. Reactions of these substituted indenyl ligands withRu3(CO)12in refluxing toluene afforded the corresponding dinuclear metal carbonylcomplexes [(η5-C9H6R)Ru(CO)(μ-CO)]2[R=C6H5(16), R=C6H4CH3(17), R=C6H4Cl (18),R=C6H4OCH3(19)]. It showed that the position of the substituent in indene ring had nosignificant change on Ru-Ru bond length. In the meantime, the Ru-Ru bond length in "trans"configuration complexs was longer than that in “cis” configuration complexs.(3) Thienyl substituted indenyl ligands C9H7C4H3S (20) was synthesized. Reactions ofC9H7C4H3S with Ru3(CO)12in refluxing xylene afforded the corresponding dinuclear metalcarbonyl complexes [(η5-C9H6C4H3S)Ru(CO)(μ-CO)]2(21). It showed that the S atom didn’t coordinate with the Ru atom.(4) Total11unknown complexes were characterized by1H NMR, IR spectra andelemental analysis. The molecular structures of8typical complexes were determined byX-ray diffraction analysis.
