Nickel is a kind of high-temperature and corrosion-resistant metal, It is widely used in various fields. Jinchuan Group co., ltd. is large enterprises of production nickel in China, nickel plate is its major production. The end product is welded to volume after Hot-rolled; then rolling mill; at last the products is delivered customers after semi-finished nickel plate is towed by stainless steel to bright annealed. For a long time the existence of cold-rolled off the band rate, and annealed primers with enough traction caused broken belt. This reducing the yield, severe compression of the profits. All of the process, the nickel plate welding and belt welding is important. The welding quality directly determines the subsequent cold-rolled off the band rate. Particularity of nickel and nickel-based alloys, as well as the prone problems in the welding process, using TIG weld nickel plate and304austenitic stainless steel belt. Selecting plasma arc welding which is centralized heat input to weld nickel plate. This article designed Omron CP1H type PLC as the core to control plasma arc welding equipment, according to the process requirements designed control procedures, while using the touch-screen technology as the user interface, the device is stable and reliable operated, easily maintenance, satisfied production needs.This article explained the development of welding process in welding nickel plate with304austenitic stainless steel by TIG welding, and the nickel plate plasma arc welding equipment components. Also it described air system, water system, control system, welding power, mechanical structure of plasma arc welding system. Achieving PLC control of each part and timeliness and accuracy of control by programming Using touch screen as the user’s interface, through the programming of the PLC and touch screen control of external devices, designed friendly interface.This paper also describes the connection method of PLC and external devices, and debugging process equipment, and finally the original nickel plate welding process was optimized so that the weld quality has been greatly improved. Experiments show that this article found the optimum parameters of welding nickel plate and304stainless steel belt, while the development of safe and reliable plasma arc welding equipment satisfied the actual requirements of6mm nickel plate welding to achieve a side welding requirements. It is instructive in production applications.At last, to some questions for the device, optimization proposal as a reference for future modifications of the device.
