Guide rail as important part of machine tool has got people’s attention for a longtime, the guide rail technology is also regarded as core technology. The performanceof rail guide has a big influence on machine tool‘s function such as processability,working accuracy and bearing capacity. The failure modes of slide guide areabrasive wear, adhesive wear, corrosive Wear and fatigue Wear. In fact, the failure ofguide rail is not the result of an simple failure mode, it‘s always influenced by manyfailure modes, but there must be a main failure mode. Because of the complexstructure of machine tool, guide rail s disassembly is very hard. Maintenance workwould waste a lot of time when the guide rail became invalid. So the guide‘s abrasionresistance and severity must be good enough. Cast iron‘s cushioning, abrasionresistance and stability are all very good, and the production cost is also very cheap,it‘s the first choice of guide rail. Hardness of cast iron is low, guide rail will wearunder heavy load.Bionics is a comprehensive interdisciplinary that teach people how to solve theproblem with the regularity and mechanism of the nature. There are three methods ofbiomimetic coupling including Laser, imbedding and inset. Laser surface heattreatment is such an approach that using high energy laser beam to irradiate thesuperficies to change its structure. Then the surface hardness will be improved.In order to improve the shortage of the cast iron, this paper reference thebiomimetic coupling principle and make laser surface heat treatment on the surface ofguide rail. By changing the form and characteristic quantity of biomimetic couplingunit we could get the following conclusions. Net biomimetic coupling sample‘s wearresistance is better than point and strip. If the wear angle is fixed, the biomimeticcoupling sample‘s wear resistance is better when the spacing of units is smaller. If thespacing of units is fixed, the biomimetic coupling sample‘s wear resistance is best whe n the wear angle is45°.
