In recent years, mesoporous phenolic resin have been widely researched as their potential application in the fields of catalysis, adsorption and so on. They can also be used as carbon source to prepare carbonaceous materials. The preparation of chiral phenolic resin nanofibers and nanotubes were studied in this thesis. Firstly, Single-handed helical phenolic resin nanofibers were synthesized through a supramolecular templating approach using the supramolecular self-assemblies of chiral low-molecular-weight amphiphiles as the templates and2,4-dihydroxybenzoic acid and formaldehyde as the precursors. The morphologies were controlled by changing the reaction conditions, such as the concentration of templates, reaction temperature, catalyst and stirring rate. The phenolic resin nanofibers were characterized using field-emission scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, nitrogen sorptions, circular dichroism. The results indicated that the chirality of the supramolecular self-assemblies was successfully transferred to the phenolic resin nanofibers. These materials are potentially applied for enantioseparation and asymmetric catalysis. What’s more, the chiral phenolic resin might be used as precursors to prepared chiral carbonaceous nanomaterials. Secondly, chiral phenolic resin nanotubes were synthesized using a pair of chiral low-molecular-weight amphiphiles as the templates and3-aminophenol and formaldehyde as the precursors. The hollow nanotubes would have potential applications for catalysis, adsorption and targeted stimulative release of drugs.
