During the process of oil and gas exploration drilling, the analysis of formation oil and gas returned to the surface in drilling fluids has been an important first appraisal of a potential reservoir zone, and it can provide important data to guide subsequent evaluation and testing. The tremendous value of this data source has been its immediacy. Knowing the presence and concentration of oil and gas in drilling fluids provides an indication of the formation confronted by the drill bit and a basis for determining the feasibility of obtaining oil and gas from the well. The desirability of taking formation fluid and other samples for chemical and physical analysis has long been recognized by oil companies for many years. These samples are typically collected as early as possible in the life of a reservoir for analysis at the planning and development of hydrocarbon reservoirs, as well as in the assessment of a reservoir’s capacity and performance. This article mainly focuses on the research of preparation and application on membrane of oil&gas separation from drilling fluid. The PDMS membranes are most suitable to separate oil&gas from drilling fluid, and have been successfully prepared by catalytic crosslinking reaction. Meanwhile, the membrane modules have also been manufactured. The results of the characterization and separation performance tests of oil and gas separation membranes indicate that, the doped zeolite sheet-form membrane of PDMS membrane is thinner and stronger, the swelling resistance is good, the hydrophobic separation performance is superior, therefore, the doped zeolite sheet-form membrane of PDMS membrane and the matching membrane module are chosen. Laboratory experiments show that:(1) In the gas state, the membrane has good permeability performance of both hydrocarbon and nonhydrocarbon gas, and the concentrations of gas on both inside and outside of the membrane have a certain linear relationship;(2) In the dissolved liquid state(dissolved in water), the concentrations of the hydrocarbon gases on both inner side and outside of the membrane also have a good linear relationship;(3) In the drilling fluids, the associated results (Csample:C Outside:CInside) of the concentration of injection sample and the concentration on both sides of membrane is approximately103:10:1(Orders of magnitude range). Meanwhile the heavy hydrocarbons components are more likely to separate from the drilling fluid. In the field experiment, the oil and gas separation membranes and membrane modules are installed in drilling fluid export zones. The experiments at the scene of drilling wells indicate that the pipeline delay time can be eliminated, the real-time of detection is decreased, and oil and gas separation membranes have reliable and stable performance. It is proved that the membrane separation technology that directly separate C1-C8(Including benzene, toluene) from drilling fluid is feasible.
