West Lake culture is of great importance, such as in the historical, cultural,aesthetic value and communication value. This article is from the West Lakeculture elements as an entry point to explore its expression and application insilk scarf design and fashion design. In this paper，the author extracted majorcultures of the West Lake with the iconic and symbolic elements, through thedesign and conversion, and combination of colors, styles and fabrics three basicelements in fashion design, making it consistent with the canons of modern artform.The main researching contents of the subject are divided into six chapters.Chapter I introduction, combed through on the overall structure of the articlethe subject’s background and research clarified the purpose and significance ofthe research, and identifies the main elements of the research and new ideas andmethods, as well as difficulties. Through an in-depth interpretation of the WestLake culture in chapter II, summarize typical representatives of the West Lakeculture and summarizes the main features of the West Lake culture, values andmeaning; it provides a theoretical basis for subsequent research application.Chapter III is the difficulty of this paper, and is also important transitiontheory and practice section of this article. through the accurate extraction andanalysis of typical elements of West Lake culture, as cultural elements into thesubsequent practice of inspirational material. Through the design of West Lake culture-themed scarveson a silk scarve designed to illustrate the cultural influences of the West Lake.Design and practice in the fifth chapter, and it through the silk scarf patternsin clothing design extends the analysis to illustrate the application of WestLake cultural element in fashion design. The sixth chapter is the conclusion section of this article, by the above research and practice, I think the WestLake culture in history, humanities, aesthetics is very important in areas suchas research and communication value. Clothing bearing the fashion and culture;from the perspective of fashion design to expand the practical application ofthe West Lake culture is very necessary and meaningful.In today’s fashion design, West Lake’s natural beauty and historical andcultural integrity reflects the aesthetic value of Chinese traditional culture,it can be said that fashion creative design of an entirely new culturaltreasure-house of material to be developed. This garment also has some inspiredrole in design innovation to inspire designers continuously enriching fashiondesign forms and cultural connotations.
