Groundwater drained from some coal mines in Huainan coal mining area has shown sulfate reductionevidences related with SRB (sulfate-reducing bacteria). water samples were collected from E1-1、E3-1、E8-2limestone aquifer of Panbei coal mine which is-490m underground, and coal samples werecollected from panbei coal mine. sulfate-reducing bacteria strains S890was purified from the E1-1watersamples. strains S890was later proved belong to Desulfurization vibrio by gene sequencingidentification. In order to ascertain why the sulfate-reducing bacteria can thrive in the coal measures ofgroundwater and its sources of nutrients, organic composition of Panbei coal mine, groundwater wereanalyzed by using gas chromatograph, and coal sample was extracted by using n-hexane, methanol, CS2/ethanol as extracting agent. Then coal sample extracts’ components were analyzed by using GC-MS.Select2,6-Di-tert-butyl-4-methylphenon,2-hexyl-1-Decanol and Naphthalene,2,6-dimethyl-fromGCMS analysis results as carbon source to cultivate sulfate-reducing bacteria under the anaerobiccondition for27days, detect the contents of SO2-4, H2S production continuously. Found that SRBbacteria can effectively use the first two kinds of carbon source, and Naphthalene,2,6-dimethyl is notused. The results confirmed that the SRB in coal measures of groundwater can make use of some of thecoal macromolecular organic compounds as carbon sources for growth under anaerobic conditions.
