Oxidation of materials is one of the main failure forms. The traditional experiment are in no stress condition, did not allow for the influence of loads on oxidation process and failure mechanism, and the traditional oxidation kinetics also are mostly based on stress free hypothesis and development, this is not the actual working condition of the component. Based on this, this research work will go on by three aspects:(1)The influence of the surface residual stress of stainless steel on high temperature oxidation rate and oxidation kinetics curve and its reasonable explanation;(2)To establish a model allowing for applied load effect of oxidation kinetics and describe the stress distribution of oxide layer;(3) To form a surface strengthening treatment or applied load oxide growth and internal stress calculation model. This paper explained the effect of different stress on the oxide nucleation and ion diffusion by the experiment of high temperature oxidation process under different stress, which also affects the formation of oxide layer. In addition, the oxide growth stress in this paper is obtained by XRD diffraction method, and the effect of different stress on Ti-6Al-4V oxidation mechanical behavior is gotten by the theoretical calculation.
