Design Research On Non-woven Materials In Fashion Styling Art

With widening of people’s thought and improvement of aesthetic idea, it becomes difficult for the artistic work of fashion made of traditional textile materials to express the creative thinking and advanced design philosophy of designers. Therefore, material reform has provided a new course for fashion design. As a result, design and application of non-woven materials in fashion styling art has appeared with the times. With innovative thinking of designers, many non-woven materials irrelevant to costume in fashion design in the past, such as paper, wood chip, metal, plastic, feather, rubber and shell, are applied to fashion design art now. This has greatly changed the old feature of traditional textile materials; meanwhile, it has also provided a larger changing space and expression room for fashion styling. In this paper, analysis is made from several aspects, covering overview about non-woven materials, development history of design and application of non-woven materials in fashion as well as reasons for its prevalence, relation between non-woven materials and fashion styling art, and design methods of non-woven materials.In overview about non-woven materials, analysis is made mainly from specific classification of non-woven materials and design and application range of non-woven materials. As for development history of design and application of non-woven materials in fashion as well as reasons for its prevalence, elaboration is conducted from origin and development process of application of non-woven materials in fashion styling art as well as reasons for prevalence of non-woven materials in fashion styling art. In terms of relation between non-woven materials and fashion styling art, explanation is made from non-woven materials and fashion styling, fashion color, and characteristics of fashion created via non-woven materials. In the chapter of design methods of non-woven material, design philosophy, elements, laws and methods of non-woven material are discussed, and several cases that adopt non-woven materials for creation of fashion styling art are listed and analyzed.Material is the source of design inspiration and medium of creative expression for fashion designers. Design and application of different non-woven materials can create many different textures and forms; reasonable application can fully reflect properties of different materials as well as their artistic characteristics, so as to realize functions and influences that cannot be reached by textile materials. Meanwhile, non-woven materials can also highlight creative philosophy of designers and deepen their spiritual connotation. In this way, they will be able to present artistic works of fashion styling with period feel and tension. Through exploration and study of this issue, fashion material can get rid of the traditional thought of applying textile materials. At the same time, we can realize the function and influence of non-woven materials in fashion. Thus various non-woven materials can be used to provide more innovative expression techniques and creative thinking for fashion styling.
