Silk fabric which can be used as a textile for painting is produced by nature silk.Silk for painting can be classified into two different kinds there are raw and cooked.Without alum treatment the raw silk has good water absorption and easy haloinfiltration. It is commonly used in landscape painting. After alum treatment the silk iscalled cooked silk, inked difficult dizzy infiltration, commonly used in calligraphyand Painting. This paper studies the ink absorption property on cooked silk, sodiumalginate treatment was studied to analyses if it is a property way to modify its inkabsorption property.According to the existing evaluation methodology of ink absorption property onsilk for painting and the basic request about the material, one tried to develop amethod to evaluate the property. The evaluation methods which can evaluate thecharacteristics of the Silk for painting were also studied.Glue alum method was used to produce Silk. Alum solution for pre-treatment, thenglue for the finishing was used to make silk for painting. The feasibility ofpre-treatment was studied, as well as urea, alum solution and plastic waterconcentration. The results show that: the urea-alum solution treatment before reuseplastic water alum finishing can improve the performance of ink absorption propertyon silk; in the spring season natural environment (temperature of25±5℃), urea,alum concentration of2%wt, plastic water alum, gelatin concentration were3%wt,6%wt, the ink absorption property on silk has the best performance.Silk alginate method was analyzed. After the pre-treatment is the finishing alginate,the silk can be used to develop Silk for painting. The feasibility of sodium alginate and its concentration as well as the kinds of preservatives were studied. The resultsshow that: in the spring and autumn season (temperature of25±5℃),thepreservative sodium nitrite, sodium alginate concentration of2%wt, preservatives(sodium nitrite) of1%wt,Silk has the best performance.
