In the past two years, most of our cities suffered from fog and haze frequently,and the effects had threatened human health. The problem of air pollution has beenclosely watched by all countries, especially on the problem of PM2.5. In theenvironmental management, in order to find the sources of particles in theenvironmental receptors, researchers always use receptor model to carry out sourceapportionment. To use the receptor model, we shall get the chemical composition ofthe particulate samples gotten from pollution sources. Consider the small diameter offine particulate part of the source samples, it’s always too difficult to obtain themdirectly. However, resuspension sampling technology can solve this problem quitewell for its capability in obtaining particulate samplers in different sizes. So thesedevices have been used in this area generally.Atmospheric environment research group of Jilin University design a newresuspension sampling chamber named JLU-RSST (Jilin University Re-suspendedSampling Tank) on the basis of improvement and innovation of the originalequipment. This instrument had the device of generating clean air to ensure that thegas sending samples is clean and free. Firstly, it has more stable sample introductionvelocity and better disperse effect. Secondly, the application of the special air filterequipment can provide cleaner driving air. Besides, the addition of the side door allowus to clean the inner side of the chamber easily. Thirdly, the glue stick samplingintroduction device and the sampling heads can also be taken out of the chamber, sowe can clean them more totally and change the sampler and filter membrane moreeasily. These design will vastly decrease system error during the sampling process andincrease the operation efficiency of the device.In this study, road dust and construction dust in Changchun are collected assamples using the new resuspension sampling chamber, JLU-RSST. We found that theequipment operate stably, the results can meet the requirements for chemical analysis,and the effect of particle separation is obvious. But there are some design imperfect, and inconvenience and other issues in use. So in this paper, we put forward thecorresponding improvement measures about the design principles and using functions,and discussed how to set some issue. Finally, we proposed some suggestions in thefuture work to hoping the new resuspension sampling chamber can achieve betterdispersion of particulate matter and more accurate sampling results.
