In the Summary section of this article introduced the road asphalt modification with synthesis and application of styrene-butadiene latex, based on the research and application of polymer in asphalt modification at home and abroad, summarized the results of SBR for asphalt modification, analyzed the advantages and disadvantages of synthetic latex, discussed the technology trends at home and abroad. For different application requires of solid asphalt and emulsified asphalt, with butadiene and styrene-based monomer, the key technology in several additional molecular weight regulator and oxidants et al through the ladder temperature control, to radical copolymerization, synthesized anionic styrene-butadiene latex for modified solid bitumen and nonionic styrene-butadiene latex for modified cationic emulsified asphalt. These two types of latex polymerization conversion rate was more than90%, the content of structural gel was less than40%, rubber properties was excellent. Anionic SBR completed pilot scale trials, nonionic styrene-butadiene latex finished industrial test, and developed the production interim technical indicators of two type styrene-butadiene latex. Though these studies, to solve the domestic long-standing usage of the modified asphalt that1502SBRL slurry is concentrated to34±2%of the emulsion, without the special situation of the latex. By partnering with the road construction sector, would synthesize anionic SBL and non-ionic SBL for modification of solid asphalt and cationic emulsified asphalt respectively. modified asphalt of the indicators were in line with national Ministry of Transportation JTG E20-2011’standard.
