Based on the rotary kiln of a cement factory, thermal measurement was conducted in this study. With gathering heat cover equipped on the shell of rotary kiln, non-circulating cooling water consumption and the waste heat radiated from rotary kiln surface to surrounding which can be used to generate electricity decreased significantly.Raw material and heat distribution was derived by measuring thermal parameters of the rotary kiln which consume the vast majority of the whole energy of the new dry process cement production line. The mathematical model of gathering heat cover was developed and the operation process of the gathering heat cover was simulated to analyze its performance characteristics at different operation conditions.First of all, a gathering heat cover system was developed and the experiment setup was established. The system was calibrated by standardizing measuring equipment. The mass assignment and heat distribution of raw material, gas and clinker was derived by means of thermal measurements.Considering the comprehensive effect of cement productive process, the experiment results indicate that heat dissipation of rotary kiln occupies the most part of the whole waste heat of cement production line and has the potential to recover. The method of coating insulation material in high temperature equipment surface could reduce the surface of the insulation heat loss, besides, a regular surface maintenance is needed to prevent to falling off phenomenon.Then this paper use ANSYS CFX software to establish the heat exchangers numerical calculation model. By mesh independent verification, we obtained an effective and economical grid number. As a basic theory of verification, a reasonable turbulence model, modified material parameters, boundary conditions and solver control were choose to ensure the credibility of the numerical simulation.Finally, view the natural condition as waved parameters to optimized, and we knew the effect of temperature and flow rate on heat transfer performance. The stable operation range were found, after setting different natural boundary condition of cool water as the overall performance of flow field, pressure, and heat transfer.
