This paper regarded the suits for labors work in metallurgical steel iron workshop asthe study object. According to the market research and questionnaire, the authors select6kinds of heat insulation flame retardant fabrics(cotton fabric, inflaming retarding cottonfabric, flame retardant polyester-cotton fabric, flame retardant viscose/wool blended fabricA, flame retardant viscose/wool blended fabric B and Nomex1313fabric), tested andanalyzed the performances from the fabric and garment two aspects. The results of thestudy are as follows.(1) Currently the overalls used in the metallurgical steel iron workshop is made up bycotton fabrics. From the SPSS frequency analysis and correlation analysis, got that theperformances of this kind of overalls dissatisfied the labors. Therefore, improvement onthe fabric of the thermal insulation flame-retardant overalls is necessary. Meanwhile, themechanical property, heat insulation flame retardant performance and comfort wassignificantly associated with The comprehensive performance of heat insulation flameretardant coveralls’ satisfaction, and the order as follows: insulating strength, flameretardant, moisture permeability, thermal insulation, hygroscopicity and permeability.(2) Tested and analyzed heat insulation flame retardant function, mechanicalproperties and thermal-wet comfort of the six fabrics. Through the gray evaluation method,it is concluded that the comprehensive performance of Nomex1313fabric was the best,next is flame retardant viscose/wool blended fabric A, flame retardant viscose/woolblended fabric B, inflaming retarding cotton fabric, cotton fabric and the worst is flameretardant polyester-cotton fabric. At the same time, the flame retardant viscose/woolblended fabric A’s thermal-moisture comfort is better than Nomex1313fabric.(3) Made clothes by the above six kinds of fabric, tested clothing thermal resistanceand calculated the manikin’s relative comfort and sensation through the Newton thermalmanikin. Nomex1313clothing had the best thermal insulation, flame retardant viscose/wool blended clothing and inflaming retarding cotton clothing were superior to thecurrent applied cotton clothing. Nomex1313clothing and flame retardant viscose/woolblended A and B were judged as comfortable clothing, pure cotton clothing, inflamingretarding cotton clothing and flame retardant polyester/cotton clothing were uncomfortable,at the same time, comfort evaluation value of Nomex1313clothing is relatively high.The results showed that the Nomex1313fabric and flame retardant viscose/woolblended fabric A are the best used for thermal insulation flame retardant coveralls, thecotton fabric is shot of the performance requirements for thermal insulation flame retardantcoveralls, and inflaming retarding polyester/cotton fabric can’t be used for thermalinsulation flame retardant coveralls. Consequently,this paper provides certain theoreticalreference on the choice of fabrics for thermal insulation flame-retardant overalls.
