The spiral bevel gear is normally regarded as the basis of mechanical transmissionparts, and be widely used in various industrial fields. Because of the complex spiral bevelgear tooth surface, its technology and equipment used in the processing is more complex.In abroad, the study of measuring technology of spiral bevel gear is relatively mature, butthe machine cost is much higher than domestic, besides, its core technology is strictcontrolled to prevent from leaking out. The gear research in domestic began lately thatabroad, and the gear measurement skill is also falling behind developed country, so in thispaper, the study of tooth surface measurement path planning and gear surface rebuilding ismeaningful. Jobs that should be done is shown as following.(1)According to the gear meshing and processing theory, with the parameters ofgear design and machine tool adjustment and workpiece coordinate system, the spiral bevelgear is modeled with the theory of coordinate transformation. The ideal tooth surface ofspiral bevel gear is built.(2)According to the theory of rotating projection, the theoretical tooth surface isdivided into measuring grid, then finding the choosing measured grid point to buildmeasuring coordinate system by coordinate change and plan the tooth surface path. Aftercomparing with each other, tooth point is measured along the tooth length direction, inmeasurement process, equidistant surface method is used to realize probe radiuscompensation, after those, coordinate values of measured tooth point can be worked out.(3)The method of NURBS is used in this paper to rebuild the spiral bevel gear.Reverse remodeling tooth surface parameter algorithm, normal error calculation method oftooth surface, gear pitch deviation are studied, and the surface error in measurementprocess is also analyzed in this paper.(4)Based on VC++and OpenGL environment, the measurement software of spiralbevel gear is programmed, which is used to measure the spiral bevel gear system, Examples are taken to show that this system has the characters of convenience, easyoperation, and the value of feasibility and practicability.
