Laser cutting accounts for a large part of laser processing, which is one of the mostimportant application of technology in laser processing industry. Its has the advantage ofthin kerf, small heat affected zone and good cutting surface quality. And the cuttingprocess is easy to achieve automatic control and so on.Laser cutting head plays a key role as an important part of the cutting laser headsystem for cutting the workpiece. This paper is based on the understanding of laser cuttingsystem. The cutting head needs to include QBH connection module, collimated modules,focusing module, protecting mirror modules, cutting nozzles, etc. A cutting nozzle wasdesigned and the appropriate collimating lens and focusing lens was selected, wich wasconsist of a complete cutting head.The cutting heat source is single-mode fiber laser. The tungsten alloy(the compositionof alloy:93W-4.9Ni-2.1Fe), which thick is0.8mm, was cut with single-mode fiber laserwhich was as the cutting heat. The test results showed that better quality kerfs wereachieved in the conditions of cutting laser power is500W, cutting speed is0.5m/min,cutting gas(N2)pressure is0.8MPa and the kerf width is210μm. The tungsten copperalloy(the composition of alloy: W-15Cu) which thick is0.3mm was cut. Better quality ofkerfs were achieved in the conditions of the cutting laser power is500W, cutting speed is4m/min, cutting gas (N2)pressure is0.8MPa and the kerf width is162μm. Themolybdenum copper alloy(the composition of alloy: Mo-30Cu) which thick is0.3mm wascut. Better quality of kerfs were achieved in the conditions of the cutting laser power is500W, cutting speed is3.5m/min, cutting gas(N2)pressure is0.8MPa and the kerf width is207μm. On the basis of the laser cutting process parameters, the kerf width would increasewhen the cutting speed was reduced and a good cutting quality could not be formed whenthe cutting speed was increased; a good cutting quality could not be formed when thecutting gas pressure was reduced and it has no effects on reducing the kerf width andimproving the cutting quality when the cutting gas pressure was increased. A certain range of tungsten alloy and molybdenum alloy kerf edge is pure tungsten or pure molybdenum.The kerf edge changes not only fail to reduce their use of performance, but also the densityof tungsten and molybdenum enhance the performance of its. CO2laser cutting is notsuitable for cutting of high melting point materials.
