With the development of the smart grid social economic, people’ are more dependent on the energy quality. Fault diagnosis of distribution network as an important part of power dispatch has novel request in the real time and precision performance. When fault occurres, if fault is not timely detect, it will be affect the development of social economic and people’s lives. In the past years, many researchers have been working on issues of distribution network fault diagnosis, different diagnostic algorithms are proposed, but there are some limitations. Now, with the application of the standards IEC61970and IEC61850in the power system. The power researchers are working on information integration and sharing, the establishment of fault information platform to facilitate the use of various fault diagnosis information, achieving the result of fault diagnosis more accurate. This paper is dedicated to solve this problem. To deal with abundance and uncertainty of fault information data, and the choice of diagnostic algorithms. A unified information model for fault diagnosis which achieved by the Powerhn400system according to IEC61970Common Information model (CIM) and IEC61850is built in this paper. Therefore, a fault diagnosis method for distribution network is put forward based on topology search. If fault occurs, fault detection program calls for distribution network topology and fault information of the CIM, and the fault can be diagnosed by simple depth-first search method. In this paper, flow chart and some program of algorithm is given, and the correctness of the algorithm is verified by using of a local correctness diagram for distribution network in the. Powerhn400system.Calculation results show that this algorithm is feasible and accurate.
