Fault locating is one of difficult points in the distribution network under the conditions of the distributed generation. When a fault occurs in distribution nwtwork, fast and accurate and reliable fault location can guarantee recovery of power supply and shorten the time of power supply, and it can improve the quality of power supply. So it has the very vital significance.This paper analysis the short current effect of distributed generation from the access capacity, access location and grid grounding scheme theoretically, as well as the simulation models are established in Matlab/Simulink for simulation verification. The result indicate that under the conditions of interconnection of distributed generation, when faults occur in the distribution network, the short current situation will become very complex and is difficult to setting. On the basis, according to the change charactristies of distribution operation mode caused by outage of distributed power, this paper introduced Multi-Agent technoligy, and discusses the feasibility of network that is included distributed generation, propose the distribution network fault locating strategy that make full use of multi point infonnation form point to all-around and from a single node to the whole system. And also this paper deduces the fault direction criterion for different types of node. Finally, distribution network models that contains distributed generation is established in Matlab/Simulink, the different cases are simulated, and the detailed fault location procedure are illustrated. The simulation results indicated that when the distributed generation supply often change, the strategy has better adaptability for distribution network, and it can accurately locate fault position, and it has important practical value for improving power supply reliability of distribution network.
