In order to improve the capacity of the grid to accept wind power, the synthetic output of wind energy and energy storage system should be able to track the fluctuation rates from grid load and overcome the wind power output bigger than the load fluctuations leading to its anti-peaking characteristics. Grid-connected wind power plays the role of the "cut peak and fill valley" to a certain extent whose system running is more friendly. Taking into account the economy, the capacity of energy storage system should be minimized under ensuring the safety redundancy.Wind Farm operation is an effective way to achieve large-scale use of wind energy. According to the uncontrollable and unexpected characteristics of wind speed in wind farm, the power smoothing method based on wavelet theory is proposed to make wind power output be decomposed into multi-levels by multi-resolution analysis of wavelet theory. Combined with the distribution characteristics of super capacitor and battery energy storage system, a mixed-type storage system model for wind power smoothing is constructed. The power smoothing control strategy based on the combination of wavelet decomposition and MAC predictive control is proposed in this paper compared with the traditional inertial filter PID control method. The simulation results show that the proposed method in this paper can effectively stabilize the fluctuations in wind power, and the capacity design of energy storage system can be given with minimize scale of the energy storage device as far as possible on the premise of the wind power grid standards, which has a certain practical engineering value.
