As the increasing need of car safety and comfort, and the greater andgreater demand of the car entering stability and convenience, AutomotiveImmobilizer is becoming more and more popular. The common Immobilizerin modern cars uses the3rd generation of radio frequency identification, which can only authenticate singly from the car to the key. In this work, weuse the4th generation of radio frequency identification. The newesttechnology can fulfill the mutual authentication between the key and the car.The authentication algorithm is based on NXP HiTag2mutual authenticationprocess. Both the car and the key fob need to authenticate each other. Theprotocols are basically a group of diagnosis services based on CAN bustailored specially for immobilizer application. Protocol model incorporatesthree layers. Implementation layer is based on KWP2000diagnosis servicespecification, i.e. ISO14230-3. Network layer is based on ISO15765-2.Physical layer is based on ISO11898and ISO15765-1.
