Nowadays, constellations made up of satellites have been widely applied inmany fields, including satellite navigation, satellite communication and many others.During a constellation’s working in space, if one or some of the satellites in theconstellation fails, it is possible that the function of the entire constellation willdecline, or even makes the entire constellation fail. Therefore, it is necessary for usto find a strategy,by which we can manage to make a spacecraft traverse everysatellite of a specific target constellation, using the least amount of feul goal of allsatellites in the constellation, so as to mainte or replace our own satellites in theconstellation, or to intercept or observe the rival satellite constellation.First, in order to study the dynamic problem of the spacecraft traversing thetargets, we set up several tradional dynamic models, and also introduce a variety ofcommonly used dynamic models. By using means of mathematical simulation, wemake several comparisons between the results of these dynamic models. In the end,we have found out the best dynamic model for the orbit design of a satellitetraversing the target constellation. Now that the dynamic model is chosen, and in the following part,we chooseWalker constellations as the object for the study. Our study starts from the aspect ofthe orbit design, according to the unique feature of the Walker constellations, wefind out a special orbit,on which the spacecraft can traverse quite a number ofsatellite in the target constellation without changing its own orbit. This result canprovide an initial reference orbit for the following orbital maneuvering, the purposeof which is to reduce fuel consumption and increase the efficiency of the operationof spacecraft. Finally,on the basis of the previous part of this paper, we give two differentkinds of orbit maneuvering strategies,by which we can finally finish the mission ofthe Satellite traversal problem. We use mathematical simulation to compare thesetwo strategies, discuss both their advantages and disadvantages.Eventually, sincesatellite traversal mission requires a strict fuel constraint,we manage to find the bestorbit maneuvering strategy.
