In recent years, with the fast development of the highway in our country, it alsobrings the heavy traffic and high speed of the vehicles. Road safety have been attendedby more and more people, people confronted with the threaten of the traffic accidentwhen they enjoy the more and more convenient highway. The cause of this reason isthat the road cannot provide enough skid resistance for the vehicles. Therefore,how toimprove the skid resistance is a very important factor during the design of road.Friction coefficient is a main index to evaluate the anti-skid performance of theroad, while friction coefficient is resulted by pavement and tyre. As far as pavement,micro-texture and macro-texture are two main factors for the skid resistance of the road.micro-texture refers to the texture of aggregate, while macro-texture is determined byaggregate gradation and aggregate shape. Friction coefficient betweendifferent tyre tread and different pavement pattern.The paper will research pavementskid resistance through micro-texture,macro-texture and tyre tread. Inmicro-texture,first determine the basic mechanical properties of five different kinds ofaggregates, such as the impacting value, crushing value,Los Angeles and polishingvalue. XRD is employed to determine their mineral composition. The result shows thatdifferent mineral composition has big influence on mechanical properties. Then we uselaser profilometer to measure the superficial texture of the aggregate. Inmacro-texture,selecting three typical gradation:AC-13,SMA-13and OGFC-13,makingthe rutting sample in the laboratory,then the BPN and the MTD is measured,determingthe MPD(mean profile depth)by the laser texture meter which invented by our projectteam.The relationship of MTD and MPD is also determined.The friction coefficientbetween three typical gradation and four kind of tyre tread is measured by the rubberfriction testing machine. At last, find out the magnitude and trend of friction coefficientbetween different tyre tread and different gradations.The results of two-factorsignificance show that when the tyre tread is fixed,the kind of the aggregate is importantfor the friction coefficient.When the gradation is fixed,aggregate and tyre tread isimportant for AC-13,for OGFC-13the aggregate is significant.When the kind ofaggregate is fixed,gradation type is important for basalt,while diorite and limestone areinfluenced by the property of themselves.
