The new distribution network is developed on the basis of the traditionaldistribution network. Its new features mainly reflects in the following three aspects:firstly, with the development of economy and the progress of the society, customersneed the power energy more and more and the quality and reliability of power energyare also in highly demanding; secondly, with the development of the urban and ruralpower grid upgrading projects, distribution automation level also increases; thirdly,the Distributed Generations which use clean energy such as solar and wind energy orthe small gas turbines will have a huge impact on distribution network in the planning,operation and management aspects. The three points promote the distribution networkcontinuous development and improvement. When some faults happen in thedistribution network, the service restoration as one of the basic functions ofdistribution automation can deal with the failure timely and effectively, restoring thenon-fault blackout area quickly so that reducing the outage loss and improving thereliability of power supply. Therefore, the service restoration has been searched andanalyzed by the majority of scholars. Under the conditions of the new distributionnetwork, the research background and application environment of service restorationare changing and so need us in-depth study on it.This paper which based on the new distribution network with a higher level ofdistribution automation and focused on the priority customers and distributedgeneration, proposes a service restoration method which based on genetic algorithmunder the conditions of the new distribution network. The main content of this paperis as follows:Firstly, by putting the load grade into the optimization objective function,establishing an index of service restoration rate considering load grade, the powersupply to the priority customers is ensured.Secondly, taking DG’s development into consideration in service restoration,when the grid does not have enough capacity to restore the entire out-of-service area,using DG’s own capacity margin to restore a partial loads which are local in theout-of-service area can reduce the amount of lost power and improve the reliability ofpower supply. Finally, considering on different restoration situations, the paper uses aclassification coding technology in genetic algorithm which can greatly reduces thelength of chromosome in genetic algorithm, filters out a large number of infeasiblesolutions and improves the algorithm efficiency.
