Buses with diesel engine, due to turbo charger’s lag response, generally make the blacksmoke increase in start acceleration process. Appling the method of experimental study, thispaper presents an air injection solution both on turbocharger compressor inlet and outlet indifferent pressure, and mainly studied the impacts of air injection on power and emissions ofthe diesel engine in start acceleration process. The main contents and results of the research areas follows:(1)Analyzed the main reasons of diesel buses’ smoke in start acceleration process in thispaper, and determined the method of using onboard compressed air to make up the defect ofturbo charger’s lag response and serious exhaust smoke.(2)Developed an air injection test device based on the method, and an air injection devicetest hardware system is constructed based on GW2.5TCI turbo diesel engine test bench.(3)A test-bed software system for air injection test device is developed of the startacceleration condition, which has the function of test condition control, data acquisition, displayand storage real timely.(4)Large of experiment research of air injection is studied on GW2.5TCI, and the testresults show that:①Air injection in different pressure can improve the response of supercharging pressure ofdiesel buses in the start acceleration process and reduce acceleration smoke. What is more, withthe increasing of air pressure and accelerate rate, smoke reduce range is larger.②Injection both on compressor inlet and outlet at the same time is superior to injection onthe compressor inlet alone, it can make up the power’ slow response when air injection pressureincrease to certain value, and it has a better adaption in different throttle rate and different airpressure.③Though air injection can reduce exhaust smoke, it makes the NOx emissions volumeconcentration increase. But compared with the NOx of this diesel’s scurviness conditions, theincrement is not too large.
