Energy is an important factor of human development and social progress.Boiler that used for converting primary energy source is widely used in theindustrial production and social life. It will directly influence the productionefficiency,living environment, and many other aspects. Since coal is the mainsources of energy in China, so the study of coal-fired boiler is very important.Reciprocating grate had a lot advantages, such as, construction is very simple, easy toprocess, maintain conveniently, save metal, adapting to use inferior coal. Because ofthese, people use it and pay attention to it. But we do not know how particle flow onthe grate. And the work of numerical simulation is nearly zero. It is necessary tostudy it.For the simulation two primary methods are generally used at present,including Euler-Euler two fluid model and Euler-Lagrange model. We can useEuler-Euler two fluid model simulate macro particle movement, but can’t get asingle particle’s moving information. Also, we are not able to study the microscopicparticle’s motion by it. When using Euler-Lagrange model it will solve themovement of particles in Lagrange coordinate and solve fliud movement in theEuler coordinate, predicting the position and velocity of the particle ofcomputational fluid movement according to Newton’s law. We can get the movementof individual particle.This paper introduces the research background of reciprocating grate and thenecessity of research firstly. Using discrete element model to simulate the particlesmotion in reciprocating grate. In the mathematics model, the collisions of particleswere modeled by soft-sphere model, and a CFD modeling methodology isestablished to simulate the fluid flow. Two-dimensional reciprocating gratenumerical model was established for mechanics simulation and regarding particlesas the disc, and the wall id established by command WALL. Some walls will moveaccording to reciprocating grate. In this paper,we have consided influence causedby speed, period and air speed, after changing these factor, found the regulation ofparticle concentration, particle velocity, kinetic energy, particle pseudothermaltemperature and force. Study how the force and particle proportioning decide theparticle distribution. We found that through research the influence from grate speedand period is obvious,and the influence from air speed is less. Particles will mixedwith near floor. We also study influencing factor of mixed result.
