In order to study what effects the reinforcement and an opening make on thestability, strength and failure mode of thin-walled wing beam under the bend-shearing loads. This article use theoretical analysis, simulation analysis and actualtest to research the following three types of thin-walled wing beam: wing beamwith reinforced columns(type A), wing beam with reinforced columns and crackribs(type B), wing beam which have reinforced columns, crack ribs and anopening(type C).First of all, use theoretical calculation to get the initial instability load andfailure load of the beam with reinforced columns. At the same time, using finiteelement simulation analysis to study the initial instability load and failure load ofthe three different beam structures. Then, be in accordance with the theoreticalresults and simulation results to provide the basis for the actual test.Secondly, through the analysis of finite element simulation results and testresults, it can be found that crack ribs have a little effect on the overall stability andultimate bearing capacity of beam structure. However, making an opening on thebeam structure web and reinforcing the edge of the opening could enhance theoverall stability and the ultimate bearing capacity of the beam. At the same time, crack ribs and the opening have a little effect on the failure mode of beam structureunder the bend-shearing load. Finally, use finite element analysis to get the initial instability load and failureload of the type A thin-walled wing beam with reinforced columns under differentbend-shearing load ratios. And in use of numerical analysis software to fit the dataobtained by the simulation, get the beam structural expression of the relationshipbetween instability load values and bend-shearing load ratios, and the one betweenfailure load values and bend-shearing load ratios. At the same time, takingadvantage of the test results data to amend the relative expression and get theempirical formula that can be used to predict the initial instability load and failureload of the type A thin-walled wing beam with reinforced columns under bend-shearing loads, which can offer reference for design of engineering structures.
