The water resource in our country is rich in gross but rare on a per capita basis, and its temporal-spatial distribution is extremely uneven. The problem of the scarcityof water resource is growing with the high speed development of industry andagriculture in our country. It is an effective solution that transfer water resource fromwater-rich area to water-poor area by pump station. Now, there has been built lots ofhigh-lift pump station, which strongly overcome the topography limit andcontributing a lot in the course of economic construction. It is very necessary to studythe water hammer phenomenon occurs in high-lift pump station, for which wouldcause serious damage once it occurs. The water hammer phenomenon has its own characteristics once it occurs inhigh-lift pump station water-transport system, such as large subpressure takes place, the reverse-rotate speed of pump is high, the pressure at the outlet of pump stationfluctuates violently and so on. This text studys the characteristics of the water hammeroccurs in high-lift water-transport system and the protection methods, combiningactual project.(1) Summarize the previous study results, elaborate on the theory and methods ofcalculation of water hammer and the boundary conditions of water hammer;(2) Discuss the two advancing front points in water hammer study, that is thecalculation of wave speed and friction;.(3) Do calculation on water hammer, taking an practical project as example. The calculation results shows that there would probably occurs pipe explosion if noprotection measures is taken. Then this text simulates the different results of the watertransport system occuring water hammer with different protection measures step bystep, including the piezometric head envelope line along the pipepath, the pressurefluctuation at the outlet of pump station and the speed change of the pump, untilreaches the final protection scheme.
