| The relationships among behavior, function and space has always been animportant topic in the world of architecture. Since1960s, along with criticalself-examination, inflexible determinism was broken. Architecture, which wasestablished under scientific thoughts, began its exploration towards polysemy. Withinthis process, polysemy started from dynamically functional fusion, and had moved tothe emphasis on the complex form of behavior interaction. It is also can be seen as themovement from the idea of physical space to virtual space.To be different from existing papers on kindergarten architecture which basicallystress on architectural types, this paper has used polysemy as background, andclassified development of kindergarten architecture into two lines. These two lines arenot only independent but also interrelated. They do not follow the past research on thefeatures of kindergarten; they indicate the necessity of development of kindergartenpolysemy from different views.There are four parts included in this paper. Part I reviews the developmentprocess of kindergarten architecture and its polysemy, regarding to evolution ofkindergarten education; and explores the key designing events on how spaces ofkindergarten architecture has changed from sealed to open. It also vertically discussesnecessity of trend of kindergarten polysemy. In Part II, two dimensions of polysemyresearch are discussed based on periodic background and creativity ofmultidisciplinary theory. It points out that the relationship among behavior, functionand space is now rebuilding; and horizontally discovers the necessity of developmentof kindergarten architecture polysemy. Part III research on the expression of polysemyabout space organization, form and behavior experience in circulation space ofcontemporary architecture, especially in circulation space of kindergarten, whichshows its influence in four aspects such as hyperlink space, homogeneous space,dynamic form and installation space. Based on the background of digital age,Part IVintroduces some practice about the combination of contemporary interact installationand physical space; and discusses the deeply influence of behavior experience madeby virtual space, which forecasts the polysemy design of kindergarten in the future. |
