Remanufacturing has been widely concerned because of its environment, resources and social benefit. It has become an important method of achievingsustainable development, material corrosion and remanufacturing is closely related. This paper developed an assessing system for remanufaturability based on theassemblability-assessing model developed by Boothroyd and Dewhurst and theremanufaturability of a Loader speed changing box based on the system and collecteddata. This system is developed by using Microsoft Visual C++language andAccess2007data base, which can calculate technological and economical index, alsocan save and query related data ofresearch object. The developing of assessing systemfor remanufaturability simplify the calculation process of technological andeconomical index, which have a lot of significance to the research ofremanufaturability. The remanufaturability of ZL50loader transmission based on thesystem and collected data was assessed and result indicates that the system is effectiveand practical.Material corrosion is also a related problem of remanufacturing. The corrosionmorphology of Q235steel was obtained using the established image acquisitionsystem which can be used in the field. In order to obtain the detailed information ofthe images, wavelet packet–based image analysis method was applied to decomposethe improved images and energies of sub-images (according to the Shannon entropystandard to choose the optimal sub-images with high regularity) were extracted ascharacteristic information. The results showed that the corrosion extent of Q235steelspecimens was qualitatively analyzed which correlated well with the change of theenergies of sub-images. The relationship between the characteristic information andcorrosion weight loss of samples was evaluated by regression analysis. Using theequation given by the regression analysis, the corrosio n degree of Q235steelspecimens can be quantitatively analyzed. The proposed method can be used todetermine and predict the atmospheric corrosion of Q235steel.
