| Along with the change of structural fundamental periods, the seismic responses ofstructures are controlled by different characteristic parameters of ground motion. Thispaper is mainly aim to study the correlation between ground motion parameters and theseismic responses of structures. The key characteristics of ground motion influencing onthe seismic responses of high-rise buildings are presented to provide a basis forselecting ground motion. For above reasons, the main contents of this paper are as follows:â‘ The three-demensional elastic and elastic-plastic models of high-rise buildingswith different periods are developed in this paper. The validity of the analytical modelsis verified by the comparison of the elastic and elastic-plastic models.â‘¡Three general seismic waves and three long-period seismic waves are chosen forthe elastic-plastic time history analysis of the high-rise buildings. The elastic-plasticresponses of high-rise building subjected to the seismic waves with different spectralcharacteristics are discussed. Base on the discussion, the limitation of the seismic designof structure according to peak acceleration and spectrum shape of ground motion ispresented.â‘¢20ground motion parameters are summarized according to the existing researchresults.Firstly,115actual ground motion records are selected and the ground motionparameters are calculated by Matlab, and then the correlation between the groundmotion parameters is analyzed.Secondly, respectively select70actual ground motionrecords as ground motion inputs and elastic and elastic-plastic time history analysis iscarried out on the structures. Base on the analysis, the correlation between elastic andelastic-plastic responses and ground motion parameters is studied.Base on the above work, the preliminary conclusions are as follows:â‘ More appropriate ground motion parameters can be adopted to select and adjustthe ground motion inputs when time history analysis was carried out on the differentperiodic structures.â‘¡For the structures with medium-period, in addition to PGA prescribed in theaseismic design code,PGV and HIcan be taken into select and adjust the ground motioninputs. PSV can be increased as the reference indexes in the choice of seismic waveswhen the structures entering into elastic-plastic stage. â‘¢For the structures with long-period more than3s, in addition to PGA prescribedin the aseismic design code, PGV, HI, PGD and PSV can be taken into select and adjustthe ground motion inputs.PSD and D/V can be increased as the reference indexes in thechoice of seismic waves when the structures entering into elastic-plastic stage. |
