A large-scale finite element software, MIDAS/CIVIL, is adopted to build an integrated and elaborate finite element model of a through tied-arch bridge with concrete-filled steel tube with the span of100m in this thesis, in order to analyze the static and dynamic characteristics of the bridges under construction and in service. Structural behaviors of the bridge under all kinds of load during construction and in service are firstly calculated, in which the mechanical change from steel tube to concrete-filled steel tube is simulated and the influences of time-dependent effects, such as shrinkage, creep and strength increment, on the mechanical characteristics are studied. Then, the structural performances under various unfavorable load combinations of dead load, live load, wind load and temperature action, are calculated. Also, the seismic responses of the bridge are calculated by the response spectrum method. Finally, the stability of the bridge with different arrangements of lateral brace under dead loads or combination of dead load and lateral wind load, is analysed. Therefore, the static, dynamic, stability behavior and computation method of large span bridges are comprehensively understood.
