In recent years, with the development of the centralized power generation, long-distancepower transmission system’s large-scale Internet system, microgrid is becoming the newresearch direction of the power grid.A large number of studies on the power grid planning and large scale new energygeneration technologies have been carried out recently, but the research on microgrids are stillnot in depth, the research on microgrid control strategies and protection configuration are ininfancy, and the study and design on the actual projects are even less.As a power system, microgrid has its own characteristics compared to the traditionalpower system and cannot simply use the traditional control and protection method. In thispaper, considering the own charecteristics of the microgrid, it analyzes and studies the controland protection of microgrid, and suggests microgrid’s control strategies and protectionconfiguration schemes in different modes. In this paper, as a lot of distributed generation suchas wind power, photovoltaic power generation in the microgrid, and every distributedgeneration has its own characteristics, a research on the control and protection of differenttypes’ distributed generation is conducted, and many control and protection solutions arepresented.Zhuhai Wanshan Marine Development Experimental Zone’s development has beenseriously constrained by the island’s power supply problem. Wanshan island depends mainlyon diesel unit power. Besides, due to the geographical factors, Wanshan Marine DevelopmentExperimental Zone’s island power grid hasn’t connected to the mainland power grid, which ishard to guarantee the reliability of the power supply. In this situation, the local governmentand residents have strong desires of a solution to the islands’power supply problem.China Southern Power Grid Company comes up the construction of Zhuhai Wanshanisland new energy microgrid project, connecting the three islands’ microgrid and Zhuhaimainland’s power grid thus solving the power supply problem completely. CEEC GEDI takesin charge of this project’s design.In this paper, based on the Zhuhai Wanshan island new energy microgrid project,combined with the actual project, a microgrid’s control and protection solution for ZhuhaiWanshan island new energy microgrid project is proposed.
