Electric power industry contains a lot of systems,and it plays an important role inthe national industrial system, as well as in the country development. It also providesthe power for the various industries. Distribution network is an important link of thepower system, transporting the power safely and stably. With the development of socialeconomy, the requirements for the distribution network is improving continuously.When malfunction a ppears,it will lead to heavy losses of the country and the people, ifthe problem cannot be resolved quickly. But the ways of fault location in our countrystill have some shortings, such as: inaccurate, high cost. Line fault indicator is widelyused in Yang-jiaping Electric Power Bureau to improve repair work efficiency. But thesystem does not contain any softwares to form a complete fasult location system, so itcan not locate the fault quickly.This thesis aims to design a system to realize the quick location of the fault basedon the fault information collection platform and fault information analysis platform.Fault information collection platform is made up of GSM communication technology,PIC and fault indicator. Fault information analysis platform is developed by the Visual.Firstly, the fault information collection platform is introduced, such as: theprinciple of the fault indicator and PIC microcontroller technology. The fault indicatortakes the mutations current and duration time as the criterion, so it can judge adaptivelyaccording to different distribution network. And it can reduces the the wrong judgmentgreatly. PIC microcontroller has its own advantages and being widely used. At the sametime, PIC18F4420has high durability and enhanced the flash memory, and the programalso has introduced enhanced design. In MPLAB software, procedures are developedusing the C language to judge fault and send fault message. So the fault informationcollection platform can operate normally.Secondly, fault information analysis platform is put forward which is based on theVisual using the C++language. C++language is currently widely used. Distributionnetwork fault location system software which contains the show module, superintendentmanagement module, account management module, indicator add module and indicator check module can realize the the fault information display and quick location.Finally, the fault information collection platform and the fault informationcollection platform integrate organicly, a distribution network fault orientation system isaccomplished.
