Urban transportation system is one kind of complex system. The development of Chinese urbanization is significantly speeding up since the reform and opening up, However, due to historical and natural conditions and the trend of development of various disciplines of science, the construction of urban road in many cities is not adapted to their development. This phenomenon leads a lot of inconvenience to the citizen’s daily travelling; meanwhile, it produces a series of social problems. Therefore, to build a good urban transportation landscape, not only from the traditional landscape of the road, but also consider the static landscape, dynamic landscape and other factors and the presence of, for example, the structure of the urban traffic, human knowledge structure, gender, age structure, socio-economic, social structure, urban type of transportation landscape has a potential impact can not be ignored. So, the study of urban transportation landscape can provide some theoretical support for the poor condition of the targeted change in urban transport for the future. This paper first analyzes the traditional areas of transportation landscape; then based on the theory of statistical mechanics, combined with a complex network and traffic safety, reliability theory, build a complex network model of the urban transportation landscape, then select the appropriate evaluation; followed in the basis of the results of previous research, then made Comprehensive study of urban traffic network connectivity reliability; Finally analyzes three different urban road network as example. In this study, the object of concern in urban traffic is based on statistical mechanics landscape in the reliability of the complex network model, which has some of the theoretical and practical significance. The main contents:(1) It analyzed the purpose and significance of this study and researched the results of related fields in domestic and international.(2) Through the study of the development trend and the understanding of the landscape of the traditional areas of transportation and Landscape Architecture, Proposed research methods of Landscape Design of Road Traffic.(3) It described the process of the formation and development of cities and urban roads, and gave the concepts, characteristics, classification and function of urban roads and urban road network. Finally, systematically describe the statistical mechanics and the theory of complex networks, introduced the commonly used statistical of complex network and classic model.(4) It described the definition of system reliability, gave the definition of urban road network reliability and analyzed the significance on studying urban road network reliability. Meanwhile, the study established the indices of urban road network reliability, gave its definition and physical meaning. It respectively analyzed the characteristics and scope of the existing methods that used for studying reliability network. Finally, it decided to use the complex network theory to analyze the urban road network reliability of mountainous-valley cities. It established a complex network model of urban road network and analyzed the complex network static characteristics of urban road network. Depend on these results, it gave the definition of the urban road network reliability based on complex network theory, and established the evaluation indices of urban road network reliability based on complex network theory.(5) It analyzed the present situation and traffic characteristics of Beijing, Chengdu and Lanzhou urban road network. A complex network model was build to simulate the statistical mechanics of urban transportation landscape, and based on the collected data it determined the size of the complex networks which had been built. Degree and the degree distribution, average path length and clustering coefficient of the network were calculated by computer program, then the real significance of the results were analyzed detailed by combined with the actual situation of three urban road networks, and the nature of the network is determined. Those urban road networks are all small world networks that have obvious fractal characteristics.
