With the development of modern power systems, large-scale, high-precision integrated modules made of microelectronics has been widely used in power system control, protection, signaling, communications, surveillance and other equipment, which greatly enhance the level of automatic control of the power system. It makes power systems more quickly and reliably, diagnosis, control. But the relative extent of the application of broadly, these high-precision equipment components for the protection of research does not get enough attention. When the substation struck by lightning, the thunder of the substation will be in addition to direct harm, indirect lightning strike will be through electromagnetic coupling, along the road and other ways to counter the invasion threat and secondary low-voltage equipment. Conventional electromagnetic protection apparatus unit as a unit member more resistors, inductors and capacitors, heat capacity, the tolerance of the spikes is relatively strong, they are able to withstand high transient lightning impact, but for high precision and low voltage electronic components, it could suffer lightning damage. How can we make these microelectronic devices in harsh environments running lightning is a serious problem.When the grounding device discharge lightning current, due to its high-frequency characteristics, ground grid showing significant inductance effect will be generated instantly potential rise and form a potential difference between different points of the ground network. Connection device on the device ground potential and a potential of the grounding device is also increased. Equipment from the outside world into all kinds of wires, such as power lines, communication lines, and data acquisition lines and control lines will be subject to the grounding device increased potential counterattack. Between to different locations ground equipment, there is also the risk of counter-attack. The protective counter potential is one of the main tasks of the lightning. This paper studies the role of the lightning surge current ground potential distribution as well as its impact on the counterattack, EMTP-ATP modeling and simulation software and power plant field potential test to verify the possibility of high-frequency impulse current role to counter potential propose appropriate prevention and control measures.
