Preliminaryex Ploration Of The Expression And Inheritance Of History Context In The Landscape Design Of Traditional Commercial District

Historical district in a city often has its own centuried cultural, historic andcommercial tradition, that witnesses the rise and fall of the city as well as changeswhile carried on the context of urban development. Traditional commercial districtsare the important elements of the traditional cultural heritage of a city. Landscapeenvironment in the traditional commercial districts, as one of the important urbansights, is the social and economic life of the time in miniature, which reflects thelevel of urban politic, economy, culture and technology. Moreover, it is the real partof the people’s social life at that time.Landscape environment in the district issignificant for enhancing the urban environmental quality, highlighting thehistorical characteristic and improving the cityscape. Nowadays, with growingattention on the protection of cultural relics and tourism development, traditionalcommercial district shows its unique glamour in the rush of consumer society.Therefore, a great amount of traditional commercial districts have appearedeverywhere. However, owning to lack of further understanding of its historicalorigin and special form, it just seems to make it under the appearance of archaizedclothes and tends to be formalism during the process of transformation andrecovery of traditional commercial districts. Then it gets into a vicious spiral ofconstructive destruction which just lays special stress on the speed and quantity oflandscape construction while ignores its essence of cultural reproduction andhumanistic concern. As a result, the characteristic of tradition and region of atraditional commercial district is going to disappear. What’s more, the landscapeenvironment in every city with different historical accumulations is reachingunanimity.Under thus background, from the perspective of landscape design and on thebasis of traditional commercial district, I summarize the existing advantages andproblems of traditional commercial district though the field investigation withtheoretical analysis in this paper.According to deep thought into the existingproblems, the present situation of the expression and inheritance of history contextwill be analysed, and then putting forward the principle, content and approach ofthe expression and inheritance of history context. Finally, demonstrating my advice on the development trend of traditional commercial district through case analysis.This paper is divided into7sections as follows: Section1is exordiumincluding the significance of topic, research status at home and abroad, literaturereview, research content and method, research foundation and the framework of thethesis.Section2is basic theory consisted of the explanation to related concepts andthe development context of traditional commercial district both home and abroad.Section3will integrate the logical relationship between traditional commercialdistrict and history context.Section4and5will systematically introduce thecontent of landscape elements in traditional commercial district and history contextelements, and then propose the method to solve or smooth the status quo oftraditional commercial district development through landscape design.The strategyand specific attention in the landscape design of traditional commercial district willbe drawn in Section6.In Section7, the expectation will be demonstrated byanalyzing the cases such as Beijing Dazalan, Nanluoguxiang, Kuanzhangxiangziand1912district. In the end, the epilogue will put forward several thoughts andinnovations in the expression and heritage of history context in traditionalcommercial district.
