At present, the Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machine (PMSM) has been developed rapidly. The PMSM has a good performance on Energy saving, compact structure, high reliability and easy to maintenance. It has been widely used in the field of electric drive. Two-stage Matrix Converter(TSMC) has the advantages of the conventional matrix converter, for example, no energy storage devices, the power can flow in both directions, input power factor can be adjusted. At the same time, TSMC has some new advantages. It avoids the four-step commutation method, and it has a more simple control policy. A predictive control approach to perform the control of an PMSM fed by a TSMC is presented in this paper. This article describes the structure of the two-stage matrix converter and permanent magnet synchronous motor, proposes the space vector analysis method based on predictive control, analysis the vector control strategy of PMSM when id=0. Input filter model, TSMC model, the PMSM model has been established in this paper. The switching function has been derived. Quality function g is used to balance the control on both input and output side of the system. It has a good performance on the Input power factor and Static and dynamic performance of the motor output. The system model has been completed by MATLAB software.
