Taking composite foundation as the research object, this paper proposed a littleimprovement to the method of the nonlinear deformation modulus. Base on this, these areproposed that include a new arrangement form about long-short-pile which is the one of thetop of the short pile without cushion; a new detection method about composite foundation; anew program to validate the detection method. Given all these studies, it is tentative toestablish a more reasonable system of composite foundation design, including the settlementcalculation of composite foundation, composite foundation detection, program development,in order to give more help to the design, detection and construction of composite foundation.Firstly, based on the nonlinear deformation modulus, this paper offers someimprovements, considering pile-soil interaction because,if so, the actual stress condition ofpile could be understanded better.Secondly, based on the method, it is the new arrangement form of long-short pile whichis the one of the top of the short pile without cushion that proposed. Taking Lubao Sluiceengineering for example, this paper puts two optimization schemes forward: one is aconventional optimization scheme about composite foundation, another is a new optimizationone. The results show that the second optimization program, both to meet the capacity andsettlement requirements, they can save14percent of the pile, the method has certainengineering practicability.Finally, this paper raises the new detection method combining loading tests on soilsbetween piles with the static load test for bearing capacity of a single pile,develops a programfor calculating settlement of composite foundation based on MATLAB of which are depictedbriefly that include the process description, the initial interface, the import of parameters,typical calculating results. With an engineering example, this paper use the program to predictthe composite foundation settlement of single pile and prototype base, whose resultsilluminate that the detection method is simple and feasible.
