Direction Finding and Location Subsystem is an important component of vehicleelectromagnetic environmental monitoring, its main functions are direction-finding andlocation of the monitoring target. Such a subsystem consists of direction-finding andlocation equipment and software, it accomplishes target-finding and locating bysoftware’s control on hardware device. The system introduced in this thesis realizesfunctions of single-frequency direction-finding, single-station storage location and so on,besides it provides the users with visual interface.To begin with, this thesis introduces the background of radio monitoring, thesignificance of direction-finding and location and the state-of-the-art of relevant systemsoftware. Moreover, according to requirement of the research project and thedependence of application in practical engineering on theoretical knowledge, this thesisstates several relevant fundamental concepts, hardware construction and majorimplementation methods on direction-finding and location.Additionally, technologies of direction-finding and cross-location are deeplystudied and analyzed in this thesis. Then, location principle, location method, errormodel, simulation verification and other key techniques and implementation methods ofradio direction-finding and location are explained in detail. Furthermore, this thesispresents a mode of bi-static location, analysis on fuzzy area and analysis on positionerror, and correspondingly, a mode of multi-static location, analysis on locationprobability center, and analysis on location error with probability ellipse were alsointroduced.Finally, combining the integral software structure of the research project, this thesisdescribes the design and implementation of direction-finding and location in aspects ofhardware composing solution, software requirement, software structure, locationalgorithm design and software interface design. Specially, great emphasis are put ondesign of location algorithm, design of working procedure of direction-finding andlocation, design of electronic map and management of data.The whole software cannot be realized without the electronic map, thus secondary development on geographic information system is also involved in system design.This thesis chooses a component-product SuperMap Objects as development platform,which is provided by the SuperMap Company, and achieves basic development on GISfunctions.Consequently, the direction-finding and location system introduced in this thesiscould implement all the fundamental requirements and applications, in other words, thedesign of this system could reach practical requirements.
